Is there any hair gels/creams that I could put in my hair after showering to keep it looking wet and straight?

After I wash my hair, I brush it out while it's wet and it looks pin straight, but when it dries it poofs up and there is a little wave. If I put hair gel in my hair while it's wet will it stay in that position when it dries?
